Does Edgward replace an alarm?
Edgward is not an alarm system and does not replace one in the physical sense: it is an intervention and information service. It provides what an alarm alone cannot - sending an agent to the site to carry out the alarm verification - and works just as well alongside your existing alarm as it does on its own.
What happens when my alarm goes off?
From the app, you trigger an intervention in seconds. A partner security firm near you goes to the site to identify the source of the alert and secure the premises, then keeps you informed. You no longer face the doubt alone, even from a distance.
What is the difference between Edgward and conventional remote monitoring?
Conventional remote monitoring relies on a remote alarm receiving centre that monitors your alarms 24/7, with mandatory hardware and a long-term contract you pay for every month, whether or not anything happens. Edgward is an on-demand intervention: no hardware, no commitment, and you only pay for a patrol when you request one. The two can complement each other.
What happens if my alarm goes off for nothing?
This is the most common case, and it is precisely where alarm verification proves its worth. Rather than going over there yourself or calling the police for a false alarm, an agent goes to the site, identifies the cause (a pet, a window left ajar, a draught) and confirms that all is in order. You get your answer without any bother.
Does Edgward alert the police for me?
No, that is for you to do, but the app makes it easier: you can reach the police (117), the ambulance service (144) or the fire brigade (118) directly from Edgward. In the event of immediate danger, that should always come first. Edgward deals with doubt, the emergency services deal with emergencies.
Is an intervention possible at night and around the clock?
Yes. You can book an intervention at any time from the app, including at night, at weekends and on public holidays, subject to the availability of partner security firms in your area.
Do I need to install any equipment?
No. Edgward requires no installation and no sensors. The app is all you need: you enter your address, turn on alerts for your neighbourhood and can book an intervention whenever you wish.
How much does it cost?
